Komoot is a European route platform that includes hiking, cycling and mountain biking routes. You can plan your own route, or view and download an existing route. Of course, our hiking, cycling and mountain biking routes are on Komoot, so you can perfectly prepare your visit to the Hoge Kempen National Park. Komoot can also be downloaded as an app, and is very easy to use to follow a route. All our routes are in the Komoot app.
To view or edit a route, you must first create a free account on Komoot.com or via the app (Android/Apple). You can then view our routes/tours on Komoot, for example. There is a lot of info available such as a description, distance, altimeters, surface, profile, photos, ...
Have you found a nice route/tour in our offer of hiking/cycling/mountain biking routes on Komoot then there are 2 possibilities:
- You can download the route in a GPX file. This GPX is a digital version of your route, and can be viewed on a hiking/biking GPS (e.g. Garmin) or on a smartphone. With a route app (e.g. Routeyou, Strava, Ranger, GPX viewer, ...) you can then follow the route GPX during your hike (navigate). You can download the GPX on your computer and then transfer the GPX file to your smartphone, to open it there with the route app, and then start navigating.
- Even easier is to use Komoot as your route app. You don't need to download a GPX then because our routes are already in Komoot. You just click on the route/tour you want to walk/bike, and Komoot shows the route on your phone, and navigates you along the route.
However, to download the route and/or use the navigation, you need to "unlock a region". This means you buy a digital map of a particular region to use those features. The Hoge Kempen National Park falls under the region "Limburg-Antwerp-Brabant-Brussels". This region map costs €8.99 once, and then you can view, edit, download, navigate, etc. all the routes of that region for the rest of your life.
